It is time now to praise our Goddess, Princess Celestia.
The video gracefully opens, with the camera panning out to reveal Princess Celestia modestly dressed with some phoenix feathers adorning her collar, perhaps loaned to her by Philomena. As phoenix feathers represent rebirth, and the song is about remembering, the artist calls us to remember.
The first two images are appropriate depictions, whereas I’m not so sure about the third. What is Princess Celestia doing with her eyes? What could she be thinking in this picture? Maybe she is reflecting on Princess Luna’s banishment.
In the image at 00:16, we see, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, reflected in our Princess a timid humility, mixed with a knowing contentment and perhaps a little compassion being depicted. This tells us that even though Princess Celestia is a god, she is still yet bound by the laws of the universe; she is not superior to anypony. Such is cause to rejoice.
The image at 00:27 is noteworthy because there is a dark magic coming out of Princess Celestia’s horn. Unfortunately, I do not remember off-hoof to which episode this refers. (Does anyponyelse remember)? But can it really be considered dark if wielded by one who is as loving and honorable as Princess Celestia? (Or, does she exercise wisdom and discretion in its use, and even then, use it with caution and reason?)
At 00:31, we see Princess Celestia in a somewhat sexy pose but not too sexy, which is fitting for a princess (and especially the ruler of all of Equestria).
Right after that at 00:33, we see our Princess in which she appears to be in defense of Equestria. I don’t like the way her eyes and mouth look in this image too much, and I’m also not sure why her snoot is reddish. I think that in general, ponies are over-animated when it comes to battle scenes. Pony eyes are already big, so more intense expressions can easily be conveyed with subtlety and do the office of the Princess more justice.
The image at 00:43 is a bit confusing. I’m sure it’s a reference to something.
00:48 is neat.
The concept at 00:49 is that Princess Celestia is a protector, perhaps similar to the Roman goddess Minerva. Those in need of protection can rest under the carriage of her nice and wide wings.
The image at 00:52 has the Princess looking somewhat sadistic. I don’t think this image should have been included in a tribute to our Princess, except that it may have been included as a tribute to the satirical aspect of brony content (Trollestia) depicting the Princess. There are limits to what can be conveyed in a simple slideshow and already-existing song.
00:55: Eyes too big.
00:57: A classic pony pose.
1:11: Pretty.
1:17: “Don’t wake me up.”
1:26 is of interest, as Princess Celestia appears to be reluctantly carrying out some princessly duty, as the result of contemplating the consequences of not carrying it out.
1:53 appears to depict Princess Celestia in her power-wielding god-form, whilst contemplating her duties. The furry part of her eye, as well as raindrop and snowflake elements is indicative of unification of body, soul, and universe.
2:00: Eyes too big.
2:04 is another dark magic depiction, whereas 2:05 is more tribal in the vein of Zecoral knowledge. (But what is “dark” magic, really?)
At 2:07, we have a pithy pose. The images I’m not commenting on are very nice, by the way. There is just not much to say about them, as they are generally excellent depictions of various aspects of our Princess.
2:08: We see that even a god may sometimes have human impulses.
2:16 is an interesting piece. I get the feeling of a Gregorian kind of piety, as with Gregorian chants. But there is also something else being expressed that I can’t quite put my hoof on. If anypony else knows what it is, please say so in the comments section below.
2:23: Black Princess Celestia? I’m not sure what to make of this.
(I’m also not sure right now, but maybe the green from Princess Celestia’s mane was what I was seeing in at least one of the dark power depictions?)
2:44: More cake? Hm….
2:47: Wow – my eyes. I’m not sure what is this?
2:58: Very nice. Thick and simple color bands are a classic – can’t go wrong with that in praising our Princess.
3:00: Who is this again? Little Princess Celestia? – Tia, perhaps?
3:03: Uhh…. what?
3:19: I am reminded of Fluttershy’s dress in the dress-making episode from Season 1, although the image makes me think more of the Greek goddess Athena rather than simple loving-kindness.
3:21: Nice plot. Very modest.
Many of the images in this video were excellent depictions of Princess Celestia, whereas others seemed to require more explanation; there were also many pictures that were very good, which I may have commented on but did not. (Please comment below, if you are willing and able.) Nonetheless, the video is pretty good as a general tribute to our Princess, Celestia.
May you go now in peace and Princess Celestia help you on your journey.
