Hello ponies,
Let’s forget about the canonicity of episodes for now and talk about favorite pony episodes. What are your favorite pony episodes? I think mine would be….
Winter Wrap-up
Suited for Success
Party of One
The Best Night Ever
The Return of Harmony (Part 1)
The Return of Harmony (Part 2)
Lesson Zero
Sisterhooves Social
May The Best Pet Win!
Hearth’s Warming Eve
A Friend in Deed
Putting Your Hoof Down
It’s About Time
Hurricane Fluttershy
Pinkie Apple Pie
Pinkie Pride
Filli Vanilli
Crusaders of the Lost Mark
The Mane Attraction
A Hearth’s Warming Tail
The Perfect Pear
…or at least those are all my five-star rated episodes from the list (https://ponypurist.com/2025/07/my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-canonicity-and-episode-rankings-seasons-1-through-7). While they all look nice in the list, I’m not sure I would want to watch them all as a playlist — might be interesting to come up with an ideal MLP:FiM playlist some time. Anyhoof, that’s 21 episodes. Now, what if I were to rank them? …

19. Sisterhooves Social by Cindy Morrow
20. Crusaders of the Lost Mark by Amy Keating Rogers
21. It’s About Time by M.A. Larson
–very interesting. Based on this list, the best MLP:FiM writers are…
1. Amy Keating Rogers (Five & one-half 5-star Episodes)
2. Cindy Morrow (Three 5-star Episodes)
3. M.A. Larson (Three 5-star Episodes)
4. Charlotte Fullerton (Two & one-half 5-star Episodes)
5. Meghan McCarthy (Two 5-star Episodes)
6. Merriwether Williams (One & one-half 5-star Episodes)
7. Natasha Levinger (One 5-star Episode)
8. Michael Vogel (One 5-star Episode)
9. Jayson Thiessen (One-half 5-star Episode)
10. Joanna Lewis (One-half 5-star Episode)
11. Kristine Songco (One-half 5-star Episode)
Although I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this as a playlist if you are new (or relatively new) to MLP:FiM (since there are a lot of great 4-star MLP:FiM episodes out there too that do well to complement this list), if you just want to watch one or maybe two pony episodes and want to be sure they are good, these are simply the best.
